This is 100% brilliant. I’m definitely going to test this out but a couple questions for you- 1. Did the soap ever burn off, or did it matter? and 2. If you were using cast iron, did the soap mess with the seasoning on the pan at all? I realize you were putting the soap on the bottom, so it wouldn’t mess with the non-stick aspect, but did it hurt the protective barrier?

Coat the bottom of the pot, pan, or whatever you will be using with a nice layer of dish soap. When you are done cooking simply wash the pot/pan and voila all the dark residues will wash right off the pot/pan. As a scout sometimes we had to place pots or pans directly in the fire so those method helped immensely when it was cleaning time.
