Bug Out Bag with Rifle Holder

A look at the best bug out bag options with a rifle holder, broken down by size/capacity and price.

Something drastic has happened and you’re forced to evacuate your home. Who knows what other people, at various levels of preparedness and panic, are going to be like. You don’t want to be bugging out unarmed, so how are you going to be carrying your rifle? We’ve put together our list of the best bug out bag options with a rifle holder built in available on the market, and broke them down by size. Depending on your specific bug out plan, one of these will be perfect for your bug out bag rifle.

Small Bug Out Bag with Rifle Holder

This pack is a smaller pack and probably won’t hold all your bug out equipment, but might be a good option if your bug out location isn’t very far, or if you have other gear elsewhere. Another good application for this pack is for an older responsible child who might not be able to carry a lot of weight, but is mature enough to carry their own firearm.

We recommend the Tourbon Outdoor Day Pack with Rifle Holder as our small bug out bag option. The size is that of a true day pack. It’s available in a plain dark green, good for urban or a hybrid of urban and forest bugging out, or in camo.

Medium Bug Out Bag with Rifle Holder

The Best Bug Out Bag with Rifle Holder

If you want your rifle well secured and out of the way, but also still quickly accessible, there is nothing better we’ve found than the Vorn Hunting Rifle Backpack. It secures your pack in a sleeve/envelope that can open with the pull of a ring on the shoulder strap, allowing you to bring your rifle around and engage whatever you may need to. The video below illustrates it really well. This pack is significantly more expensive than the others on the list, but it’s also set the standard for what a backpack with a build in rifle holder should be. If you’ve got the money, this is exactly what you’re looking for.

Less Expensive Medium Sized Bug Out Bag with Rifle Holder

At time we’re writing this, the Tidewe Hunting Pack is about 1/3 the price of the Vorn pack. This pack can hold a rifle, but it doesn’t have a quick release option. The Tidewe has an internal frame, and can hold 55L. It’s comfortable and durable and has great reviews on Amazon by hunters and backpackers.

Large Bug Out Bag with Rifle Holder

If you’re looking for maximum capacity, we recommend an external frame pack. Our favorite large bug out bag with a rifle holder has just that, and also has a 90L capacity to boot. This backpack, as a bug out bag, can carry your rifle, or a bow, even a fancy compound bow. This bag can also expand to hold even more. It’s not as classy as the Vorn, but it has a much higher capacity.

Turn Another Pack into a Bug Out Bag with a Rifle Holder

Shoulder Strap Rifle Sling Hook

This is great, and a low cost option. It keeps your rifle accessible. It’s not the most comfortable way to carry a rifle though, and it’s not as out of the way as it would be if it were in the pack. It is more comfortable, and more secured than it would be with JUST a shoulder sling though.

What’s the Status of Your Bug Out Bag?

A rifle or a firearm is a vital part of your bug out bag, but you need all the right gear in a SHTF scenario, and there is little margin for error. When your life depends on it, you want to make sure you haven’t forgotten anything, and you can’t drink bullets. For that reason we put together an extensive bug out bag checklist to help you determine if you’re prepared, should you ever need to get out of dodge.
